KYVL Alliance
Role
- Act in an advisory capacity on all issues of importance for KYVL
- Advocate for advancement of KYVL
- Communicate regularly with constituent groups and seek input when appropriate
Membership
The KYVL Alliance represents the membership of KYVL and shall consist of 13 voting members and 2 ex officio members. Representatives from member libraries should be Deans or Directors, those with decision-making authority; they will serve a 3-year term. The KYVL Alliance shall include:
- 1 representative from Association of Independent Kentucky Colleges and Universities (AIKCU)*
- 1 representative from K-12/KSMA (to be selected by the KSMA Executive Board)**
- 1 representative from Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS)*
- 2 representatives from Kentucky public libraries/KPLA (to be selected by the KPLA Executive Board)*
- 1 representative from the University of Kentucky
- 1 representative from the University of Louisville
- 1 representative from the regional comprehensive universities*
- 1 representative from the unaffiliated academic libraries (to be selected by those members)*
- 1 representative from the unaffiliated non-academic libraries (hospital, military, business -- to be selected by those members)*
- Library Media Consultant representing Kentucky Department of Education (KDE)
- 1 representative from the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives (KDLA)
- Director of the KYVL
- Vice-President for Technology and eLearning, CPE (ex officio, non-voting)
- Chair, KYVL Leadership Team (ex officio, non-voting)
*The representative on the KYVL Alliance must come from an institution that is a current member of KYVL.
**The representative on the KYVL Alliance must come from a district that is a member of KYVL or work
with districts that are current members.
Officers
The KYVL Alliance shall have two officers:
- Chair
- Chair Elect with Recorder duties
The Chair Elect will serve in this capacity in the first or second year of his/her term (if in a 3-year term) and serve as Chair in the following year. The Chair Elect will be named per a rotation of members, excluding the Director of the KYVL, the CPE Vice-President or Technology and eLearning, and the Chair of the KYVL Leadership Team.
Frequency of Meetings
3 times per year (additional called meetings, if needed).
Reporting Relationships
- The KYVL Alliance advises and makes recommendations to the KYVL staff.
- The KYVL Alliance may make requests of the KYVL staff and the KYVL staff may make requests of the KYVL Alliance.
- The KYVL Alliance delegates to the KYVL Leadership Team.
- The KYVL Alliance communicates to the membership at large and collects input from the member institutions.
