- Jane is now chair of the this work group.
- We decided to use the listserv (plus web interface) as communication for
the group. We do not want to switch to the Eduprise system because it requires
another log-in and the system might be going away soon.
- Introduction of new members, and general orientation for them:
- Mock-ups
- Minutes
- Membership and contact info
- Agendas
- Links to work in progress and other helpful stuff
- The committee organization chart should be added to the work space
- Purpose of this workgroup is to define structure and function of the database.
SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) will decide about sites to include in the
database.
- Timeframe (from Miko’s 2/26 message):
- 1. Create basic organizational scheme for the site - 2/01 (done?)
- 2. Define types of resources to be included
- 2.1. Identify Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
- 2.2. SME orientation on responsibilites and process
- 2.3. Survey of instructors on resources being used or would like to
use
- 2.4. Collect survey results for SMEs to evaluate
- 2.5. Resources included in site using appropriate subject categories
- 3. NIFL LINCS' resources
- 3.1. Identify resources to be included in our site (SMEs)
- 3.2. Analyze viable alternatives to extract records from LINCS for
- resources we want to include
- 3.3. Analyze viable alternatives to upload our records to KY LINCS
- 3.4. Create KY LINCS site
- 4. Create the resource database
- 4.1. Develop database record structure
- 4.2. Create template and process for entering data
- 4.3. Identify other types of resources to be included for SMEs to
- evaluate
- 4.4. Mock-up of site
- 4.5. Focus groups to test and critique
- 4.6. Revise and release to a pilot group of instructors
- 5. Official launch
- Results of Timeline discussion:
- Completed #1. We’re going with the Nav bar as it appears in the mock-up,
with the addition of a "GED 2002" link. This list can always
be modified later as needed. An "EFF" button will also be put
at the bottom.
- Our official launch goal date (#5) is now 8/31.
- We plan to have our SMEs (#2.1) in place by the end of March
- Miko will add dates to the rest of the timeline and the group will live
with it!
- Guidelines for Contributors. We need a written document to give
to the SMEs. The government info group has a similar document here: http://www.kyvl.org/html/gia/contributors.shtml.
We can use this to base our document on.
- Miko will present mock-up on 4/17.
- Three positions funded by AE:
- Database person (Beth)
- Web master (advertised soon)
- Call center (advertised soon)
