-
Keeping stats and tracking users.
-
Beth will ask Dave about how this is done. We should be able to track
users by KYVL group (public library user, K-12, public university....),
but we might not be able to get more specific than that. We want
to see if we can track anything about what the user does within
the interface (using canned searches vs. doing their own searches, for
example).
-
Field Test Results.
-
The results were used to make lots of changes to the interface, most of
which were in place by the KAACE conference (Sept 11).
-
We basically feel that the interface looks good. Here are a few other
things to look at:
-
Is it possible to provide a truncated view of the "description" field in
the brief results? That would give people a better idea of what the
resource is about, before deciding to go to the full record. (Beth
will check)
-
Add "digitized document" as one of the types you can use to limit a search
(in addition to "Web Resource" and "Resource Review")
-
LINCs Update.
-
We're still on for Oct as date to get records from LINCs.
-
We are working on a contract with OCLC (Online Computer Library Center,
Inc.) to do the "catalogging" of the records we plan to contribute to LINCs.
All states contributing to LINCs are supposed to have their records checked
by cataloggers before adding them to the database. Kentucky doesn't
have a catalogger available for this, so the OCLC contract will serve this
purpose. The purpose of having a catalogger work on the records is
to improve completeness, accuracy, and consistency of the information,
in compliance with LINCs catalogging instructions.
-
Timeline for Phase II.
-
The "Phase I" site is the interface we have developed for Adult Education
Instructors. Phase II is to develop an access point for the database
for Learners.
-
I did not have very good notes here at all! Anyone want to contribute?
-
Introducing the Database to new users.
-
Traning sessions to be held for Adult Educators around the state.
-
We suggest one person from each site, someone willing to go back and train
others.
-
Looking at dates in Nov. and Dec. Because people come to Lexington
and Louisville to Christmas shop anyway, we decided to hold sessions only
in those locations during these busy months and schedule for other locations
in the state in the spring.
-
Rosie is arranging the Louisville site and Beth will arrange Lexington.
Looking for 3 sessions in each location: Friday morning, Friday afternoon,
Saturday morning.
-
