Virtual Adult Education Steering Group Minutes
September 28, 2001, 10:00 - 12:00
CPE Conference Room B
Present: Ben Boggs, Reecie Stagnola, Sandra Kestner, Jane Martel, Randolph
Hollingsworth, Norma Northern, Miko Pattie, Melanie Leaver
1. Membership:
As this group is to coordinate all KYVAE projects, it was proposed to invite
Cindy Read, KY Institute for Family Literacy to join the group. Miko will email
Cindy on this.
2. KY Academy for Adult Education Professional Development:
- Ads for 3 positions are out;
- Will take a regional approach in training;
- Ben and Sandy will work with Richard in defining the Academy's role in the overall scope of these projects.
3. Self-service Registration:
- Randolph reviewed the proposed process with the group.
- Sandy asked about using the GSC Registrar System. The group agreed that
the KYVAE registration system should be used for all programs if possible.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN: We need to verify if the set of requirements from DAEL
vis-à-vis Registrar match with what we have with SQL, PeopleSoft, and Prometheus.
4. Invest Destinations:
- CyberCorp - It was proposed to have one expert per
county to form a cybercorp to support training. These experts are envisioned
to be well-versed in all online curriculum products so that they can be in a
position to compare and help other instructors in selecting the components that
best meet the needs of students.
- Technical support for Destinations is for
instructors only. Eduprise will support learners in the use of this product.
5. Preview of KYVAE Web Site:
- Melanie reviewed the Web site with the group.
- How do we count the learners who come directly to KYVAE without going through
centers? These will be counted as the state total. These learners will have
a coach assigned to them by D. J. from the CyberCorp.
- It was proposed that
the Academy uses KYVAE Web site's "Professional Development Opportunities" page
and that the Academy's courses be included in the course catalog.
- The online
applications form data elements - It was proposed that all 28 elements required
by DAEL be incorporated into the form.
