GIA Workgroup Committee: Minutes
Present: Rae Shepherd-Shlechter, Barbara Whitener, Eileen Haddix, Linda Sizemore, Sandee McAninch, Enid Wohlstein, and Barbara Teague [for Bill Richardson].
Absent: Connie Klimke, Tanzi Merritt
Linda Sizemore volunteered to be secretary.
Minutes from last meeting were approved.
Agenda was set to go over minutes and check to see if tasks were completed.
Sandee has not sent KY Stats information.
Linda Sizemore volunteered to take Transportation, Population stat info.
Went over list KY Stats contributors and noted needed revisions.
Rae will ask Claudia Fitch to take Finance, Insurance, and Geography.
Tanzi Merritt will send email indicating she is ready for updates to KY Stats with instructions on format.
Macro sites, such as FirstGov, for federal and state information will be moved from the General heading to the Government heading.
Next task for the KYStats list is to review the VRD for appropriate, non-statistical federal and state government sites on their topic. Sandee will send out a message in July.
Rae volunteered to take Consumer Information in the VRD. Rae also volunteered to do an annotation for consumerworld.org and we will add it to VRD>Business & Economics>Government Info.
Barbara Teague will be added to the GIA listserv and serve on the workgroup in tandem with Bill Richardson.
November 1st is the date for the all day government resources workshop. Invitees are teachers, librarians, and other interested state agencies. Enid will check to see if workshop will count as a CE for library certification.
Small planning committee was formed, but most of the planning was done in the meeting.
Start time for workshop 9:00 a.m., lunch 1 ½ hour, 5 hours for presentations. Presentations will be in 20 minute blocks with 15 presenters.
