Handouts: KYVU Instructor Survey with copies of e-mail revisions from Susan & Kevin; Statement of Work for KYVL 100
1. Group introduced themselves to Marth Birchfield from Lexington Community College. Enid announced that Tanzi resigned in July. This leaves Enid as the super-librarian of KYVL. J Tanzi’s position will be filled but it is difficult at this point to predict when.
2. The group made the revisions to the KYVU instructor survey that were suggested by Kevin and Susan as well as a few others that came up while we were looking at it. We wrote a brief introduction and the final draft (Revision 4) is posted on the Angel website for the IL Workgroup. Enid will alert the group when she has sent the survey out. She will be using the Zoomerang for the survey.
3. The group looked at the schedule included in the Statement of Work document given to us by Embanet. Enid will let us know when she gives them the o.k. to begin work on the tutorial. Embanet recommended that we have a pre- and post-test to measure student learning as well as one short self-assessment per module. We came up with the following work assignments.
Pre- and post-test. Anna Marie will write 5-10 questions for these and distribute them to the group.
Self assessments. Each group member will write one question (according to the chart below) and send them to Anna Marie.
“Finding Books” LouAnn & Tom
“Citing” Sonja & Susan
“Evaluation” Kevin & Haiwang
“Doing Research” Susan & Mike
“Searching the Web” Anna Marie & Martha
“Finding Articles” Anna Marie & Martha
The questions should be multiple choice, true/false, or
matching. No short answer. Questions are due on AUGUST 20!!!!
4. Enid brought up the group’s intention to connect to KLA’s Library Instruction Roundtable. Group discussed this a bit. Anna Marie suggested trying to focus on “real-life” information literacy scenarios/problems that could then be marketed as something that KYVL can help people solve. Anna Marie thought that Rebecca Maddox was the incoming chair for KLA LIRT and since she is a public librarian, this might be a good connection. Haiwang suggested another public librarian who might be able to join our group. He will contact her to ask. Anna Marie will contact LIRT.
Meeting adjourned 11:55am.
