- Review
and approval of January 29th minutes.
- Review
of findings of the Public Library Web Site Survey. Each committee member
reported the findings of their assigned region. All completed surveys
should be sent to Allen. Allen volunteered to compile the results of the
survey.
- The
following public library web sites were recommended for excellent KYVL
coverage:
Jessamine County (Bluegrass) http://www.jesspublib.org/
Bell (Cumberland Valley) http://www.tcnet.net/~pinevillelib/
Henderson http://www.hcpl.org/
Grayson (Lincoln Trail) http://www.graysoncountylibrary.org/
Oldham (Kentuckiana) http://www.youseemore.com/oldham/default.asp
Cumberland (Lake Cumberland) http://www.cumberlandlibrarylcd.com/
Wolfe (Kentucky River) http://wolfecountypubliclibrary.org/
It was suggested that these
libraries be highlighted in any future conference sessions on KYVL.
Marcia
suggested members look at the Laurel County for its unique web site
design. The library does not have a KYVL link. (http://www.laurellibrary.org/
- Committee
members stated their concern over the lack of web sites.
and the poor design of many.
It was noted that the survey did not include library budget and size of
the staff. Enid has a KDLA survey which contains
that information, if needed.
- Stacey
stated the survey will be useful in determining marketing direction for
KYVL. The approach should be to encourage libraries to help their patrons’
informational needs further with the inclusion of KYVL on their web site.
- Billie
noticed on one of the public library web sites that the KYVL explanation
included the line that ‘state government information’ was a part of what
KYVL offered. This statement is not accurate and portrays the need to
develop a brief statement of what KYVL is about to include with the logo.
- Enid
prepared a packet of information of the PSA contest and schools that
submitted an entry. Of the eleven schools that sent a letter of interest,
seven entries were received. The schools are: Glendover Global Studies
School, Lost River Elementary, Robert D. Johnson Elementary, Elkhorn
Middle School, Philip A. Sharp Middle School, Lee County High School, and
Lincoln County High School.
- The
following schools were judged to be the best in their category:
Elementary: Glendover Elementary School
Middle School: Philip A. Sharp Middle School
High School: Lincoln County High School
- Joy
suggested that students have a choice of creating a 15 second or 30 second
PSAs for next year’s contest.
- Next
year’s instructions should include that the preferred format is CD, QuickTime for PC.
- Enid
will draft a letter of
thanksrecognition to
all the students who participated in this year’s contest.
- Committee
members agreed that the
Community Colleges KCTCS should be
added to the annual contest.
- KYVL intends that a
All
PSAs will be made available on the KYVL web site.
- Enid
