• Review of February 13^th minutes deferred to the next meeting.
• Gabrielle Gayheart discussed KDLA plans to add technical assistance to their Web site regarding Web page development for public libraries and provided information about her conference session at KPLA.
• Discussion of upcoming workshop at KPLA. Date, location, and time of the conference are as follows:

Kentucky Public Library Association, Kentucky Library Trustees Association
Joint Conference Radisson Plaza Hotel, Lexington, Kentucky, May 5-7, 2004

• Workshop Summary: “The Kentucky Virtual Library would like to explore with the Commonwealth’s public librarians ways in which they can support each other in meeting our patron’s library needs. Come hear and share ideas, comments, and concerns with other librarians from around the state.” (taken from Conference syllabus)

KYVL Conference Session: Thursday, May 6, 3:30-4:20 p.m.

· Reviewed purpose of KYVL Outreach Group session and what information will be presented. Outlined below are the suggestions, recommendations, and representatives for each segment of the presentation.

Introduction

Review: mission statement (“To advise the Kentucky Virtual Library in the investigation and exploitation of avenues for increased exposure of KYVL resources and databases.”), membership, accomplishments to date (handout copy of Press Release for the PSA contest and show winning entries, if available), web site survey ( brief introduction). Speaker: Cindy Gaffney

Web Site Survey

Review: purpose of survey and findings, present recommended web sites to audience, (handout?) Three or four of the following public library web sites will be presented. (Permission will be obtained from the public libraries whose web sites will be displayed.) Speaker: Allen Ashman

Adding KYVL to your Web Site

Review: suggestions/recommendations for adding KYVL to your Web site, Outreach committee plans to create standards for linking KYVL. (Include HTML text for adding a hyperlink?) (Tag lines may be available in time for the conference from the KYVL marketing staff that can be added to the logo.) Speaker: Tanzi Merritt.

Handouts

Review: promotional materials currently available through KYVL (Example: Go to www.kyvl.org., Click on ‘More how to use KYVL…’, click on Trainer’s Toolbox., online tutorial, etc. Currently available: KYVL Database Descriptions, KYVL Fact Sheet (Cindy will bring downloaded copies of these two items for handouts. Tanzi will bring KYVL notepads and bookmarks. Speakers: Debbie Allen and Cindy Gaffney
