Present: Winn Thierl, Enid Wohlstein, Debbie Sharp

Absent: Allen Ashman, Joy Bozorgzad, Marcia Freyman, Billie Ann Gebb, Sue Patrick

Administrative Items:

Cindy Gaffney, Stacey Nickell have left the group.

We need to solicit new representatives for KCTCS and KPLA.

Review of February 13^th minutes deferred to the next meeting.

PSA Video Contest – Planning

• PSA Contest – format of entries needs to be on cd and in Quicktime for PC.
• Debbie suggested we make cds or dvds of winning entries and give them to each participant.
• Call Elaine Harrison – Can KDE help w/equipment for counties that may not have access to digital stuff?
• Debbie – can we just say “Broadcast Quality”
• Debbie talked to Andy Spears at UK. If a video is not broadcast quality to begin with, then it can’t be made so.
• What is the KDE showcase? What is the KET showcase? Debbie to investigate.
• We talked about a tie-in of our contest and the two showcases and that our PSA can be used in either of those.
• Talked about KTLC. Winn asked if we can we have an insert in the KTLC packet.
• Add language that we can reuse the PSA or remix the content. KYVL assumes ownership.

• PSA Contest schedule. Announce contest in September, letter of intent by November 1. Email to STLP coordinators & LMS listserv. Require some type of letter.
• Announce 1 Sept.
• Letters of Intent due 1 Nov.
• Videos due 1 Feb.
• Judging, 1^st week in Feb.
• Feb: do press release, order plaques, do letters, post winners on our site

• KTLC – do a booth?
• Winn asked if we could do an announcement from CPE recognizing previous winners to kick-off this year’s contest. Winners of the 1^st contest were invited and recognized in absentia at the Council on Postsecondary meeting March 2004. The winning videos were also shown.

Public Library Websites

• KDLA website assistance page?? Where is it? Link to this from our workgroup page.
• KDLA and LSTA funds. Contact Tezeta Lynes about money for software, web hosting. Also ask Charlene Davis.
• Can we create a connection between the STLP and the public libraries?
• Can we do a joint program @ KPLA with KDLA, Pub Libs, STLP and KYVL?
• Can KYVL be a host for public library websites? Enid to ask Charlene and Norma.

• Debbie: Do we/should we restrict by budget? Must be/have budget less than X?

Equal funding – Allen Ashman (per Debbie) -- a KERA for libs.

• Public library web survey – now what?
• KYVL needs to send out the promo packets to the public libraries. Winn would like extra. Need to make the packets and extras. Also should send to KCTCS.

Misc Outreach Items

• IMLS grants.
• Can we do a web-based online course? KYVL 101
• Can we get a grant to create a booth? Also to print glossy brochures, mousepads, etc.?
• Need to put KYVL presentations on our site and in Angel.
