Summary of Discussion of Shere's draft of the outline for the tutorial

• We decided to add a few more kids to the first page of the tutorial and to be sure these were representative of the diverse communities we serve.
• There will be the medium blue space background on all of these. We'll stay with the space theme throughout.
• The tops of all screens will have the "All the information in the known universe" logo in the upper left, the planets that lead to the different resources along the top, and the VL logo in the upper right. Text links will be available along the bottom.
• Throughout the pages Spacedog (we decided not to call him Rover) or other characters may float in from the sides to make comments or emphasize a point.
• Shere talked about graphically representing ideas with games or moving images. For instance, in "Step 16: Organize your info" She'll create a game to emphasize "put items in order by time" in which the students put a series of images in chronological order.
• We discussed adding a site map so that students or teachers could jump to a specific page/lesson. This could be represented with a space station and would appear at the top and/or bottom of each page.
• For the thinking cap that appears in several of the pages we'll use something that looks like a space helmet with antenna and electricity popping out of it.
• We're going to have a mini tutorial on web search engines. This could be linked from step 10, from the portal page and from the site map.
• We talked about creating mock web pages to help with lessons on evaluating resources.
• Shere issued a challenge to the group to add words to the glossary. If you see words in the site that should be defined, send them to the list and give us a definition!

Schedule
The group decided that the schedule for tutorial construction was fine except that the meeting on the 27th should be changed to the 28th. The 27th is memorial day. 3:30pm was the prefered time to meet.
