1. Endeavor Update – Don Muccino, Linda Voyles

2. Training Budget

The training budget issues will be postponed until the next quarterly meeting.

3. S.S.L.

This issue is still being investigated. Dave has talked with Endeavor and Michael Doran about implementing S.S.L. for the Kentucky Voyager Consortium, and potential problems. Technically, implementing S.S.L. is doable. Any institution on Eastlib that uses a domain other than kyvl.org would need to purchase their own S.S.L. certificate; for example University of Kentucky would need to purchase their own certificate.

4. Service Level Agreement Benchmark testing

We examined the proposed searches that the subcommittee determined should be used to set the benchmark performance for both eastlib and westlib servers. The consortium members approved the proposed searches. Benchmark testing will be performed on March 30, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., and a second set of tests will be performed on March 31, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.. Each institution will perform the test by setting up the search in their own OPAC, then beginning timing when they press <Enter> key to start the actual search. Stop timing when first results screen displays. For complete instructions please see the spreadsheet distributed by Tari Keller.

One caveat to the test will be that the system administrators can call the testing invalid if significant systems or networking problem occurs during the dates and time of the tests.

5. Patches / Upgrades

Westlib will confirm with Keith as to the date when the patches will be applied. The group estimated that we will probably not upgrade to the Unicode release this summer, but each institution might want to run data conversion tests on the test server to identify any potential problematic records or other conversion problems.

Next meeting: June 3, 2004, 1:00, CPE Conference Room A
