1) WebX Demo on Voyager 5 – Michele Arms

There are five major developments that can be expected in Voyager 5.

I.)              Safe guarding the end users’ privacy.

a.      Patron purge batch process to delete patrons based on an entered profile and criteria. Allow the deletion of patrons with historical fines. Can specify the number of historical charges to save and display for a particular item.

II.)            Manage local circulation policies.

a.      Hold Shelf life and Hold Life and Recall Life settings are being moved to the circulation policy matrix level.  More granularity in setting:

·       Maximum number of items borrowed.

·       Maximum number of borrowed item types per borrower

·       Maximum number of borrowed items within a policy group

·       Maximum number of borrowed specific items.

·       Maximum number of borrowed items within the policy group

III.)          Prediction of complex publication patterns.

a.      Far more control is being provided to allow for input of complex publication patterns.

IV.)          Determining how serials will display in WebVoyage.

V.)            Extending Searching capabilities.

a.      Keyword search of holdings and keyword search of headings; e.g., a keyword search of “geography” in headings will not only return every subject heading that begins with “geography”, but every heading that contains the word “geography”.  There will be left truncated use of wildcards.

VI.)          Presenting Media scheduling in WebVoyage.

a.      Will allow patrons to cancel scheduled media through their WebVoyage accounts.  Scheduled media will display in the OPAC, but not scheduled rooms.

2) New Secretary for the Work Group

To more fairly distribute the work of taking minutes for the meetings it was decided to rotate the duty among ECWG attendees.  Margaret Foot volunteered to be the secretary for 2005.

3) Project Updates:

Response Testing: testing was completed 10/26/04.  Tari distributed the results.

LCC Migration: A group is working on the details for migrating the Lexington Community College records from the eastlib.kyvl.org / University of Kentucky Voyager database to the westlib.kyvl.org K.C.T.C.S. Voyager database.  Voyager has provided an estimate to migrate the data, and funding has been approved.  Records will be extracted from the UK database and a test run on be performed on the test server in April.  If all goes well implementation will be in May of 2005.  Migration needs to be completed before we upgrade the Voyager version.

If available in a timely way we discussed the possibility of being an Early Release site for AIX.

4) Patch Experience

Eastlib patch is complete and Westlib will complete its patch tonight.  It was determined that we need to work on some communication issues.

5) Test Server Use

            Unicode testing – February/early March-UK

            LCC migration—April/May
