Endeavor Update (Linda Voyles)

Questions were asked about the new interface and about Cognos:

·        Will it be more Google-like?  The interface will be more streamlined.  The interface will be simple for the enduser, but the complexity for the user side will be maintained.

·        What about searching capabilities?  Endeavor’s initial focus is on design.

·        Will the new interface be ADA compliant?

Project Updates

Response testing:  The Group will probably not run response testing this spring.

Service level agreement (SLA) (Enid):  The SLA needs to be updated.  In its current form, the SLA will not be passed internally.  The agreement needs to be fleshed out more to get it out of the building.  The SLA should become a Memorandum of Agreement.  Tari and Enid are looking at other consortia for models for the MOA.  A subcommittee was suggested for this task.   We also need GOT to update information.  The MOA should be drafted by the start of the fiscal year (July 1, 2005).

Training budget (Enid):  Ten invoices for 1999-2003 were unpaid, coming to $27,000.  The test server -- $25,000 – was never paid.  On the other side, there are credits as well. There is now $179,000 in the budget.  Ultimately, the balance should come to $152,649 after paying off invoices and including credits.  We should not use the training budget yet.

LCC Migrations

Test loads of patrons was successfully migrated to KCTCS.  The load has not been previewed yet by LCC.  Paul Fuller is addressing clean-up issues.  There will be one test load approved, then loaded into production.  Some data will not migrate.  May is the target date for production loads.  Eventually, LCC data will be purged.

Thawte SSL certification

UK has made progress with the paperwork for Thawte SSL certification.  Signatures will go through KYVL for Eastlib.  KYVL will serve as the domain.

Voyager software patches

Voy110904 and media110904:  EastLib will need both of these patches.  No one on Westlib is using media scheduling.  Agreement was made to wait on both of these patches.

The dreaded number is 65099 – the run-time error that causes time out when idle.   This problem is huge for KCTCS.

Upgrade

Upgrade will probably be scheduled for the weeks of August 7-13 or August 14-20 for Unicode and Voyager 5.  Continuous OPAC will need to be up.  The consortium may have to schedule Unicode and then Voyager 5 because of Oracle.  Linda noted a significant number of Voyager sites will be upgrading about this time.  The AIX 5 upgrade is a long piece.  The OS upgrade will add a time component.  This will require more space for this upgrade.  We will need full regens for Unicode.  Conclusion was reached that the August dates will be placeholders.

Other

Volunteers were sought to develop instructions  for hub site support/troubleshooting for the KYVL website.  Discussion centered on tracing routes, and trying to get pertinent information to UK or UofL concerning the problem.  Some solutions have already been tried.  Mark Paul and Gary Flanagan expressed interest in working on this problem.

Next meeting:  Thursday, June 2, 2005.
