Endeavor update

Michele Arms (Endeavor Customer Liaison) outlined new features coming in Voyager 6.1.  These include:

Update on Testlib/Eastlib problems

Josh Rasey (Endeavor Customer Support Team Manager) is the designated lead for identifying and resolving the problems resulting from the upgrade to Voyager 5 last August.  Josh joined the Work Group meeting by telephone to describe his progress to date.  He said that he has identified the keysvr process--the Voyager server process that manages the keyword indexes--as the likely source of the problem.

The Endeavor Consortium has made the consortial Voyager test server, “testlib,” available to Endeavor for troubleshooting.  Josh intends to build a Voyager 5 training database on testlib Monday, March 06, 2006.  In the following days, a copy of one of Eastlib’s production databases will be created on testlib.  This will be a clean test environment in which comparisons can be made to the eastlib production environment, hopefully leading to a resolution for the problems in eastlib’s production databases.

Update on Westlib problems

Endeavor is working with the westlib system administrators to resolve the holdings keyword searching problem.  Endeavor had advised last Fall that a holdings keyword regen would make the holdings keyword indexes searchable.  However, during discussions about system performance impact, scheduling, and other factors, it was discovered that a holdings regen at another Voyager site “broke” the ability to sort OPAC search results.  Josh Rasey indicated that this supported his hypothesis that the keysvr process was implicated in the sorting problem.

KYVL update

Enid Wohlstein collected record counts from the various consortium members.
