Introductions

Ex Libris Update

Voyager development staff has doubled since merger.  WebVoyage is being modernized, based on usability testing.  The enhancement process is being accelerated.  Voyager is still being developed.  Version 7.0 is due in mid-2008 and 8.0 in early 2009.  It will continue beyond this, so they say.

Voyager 6.5.1:

This should be available late Q2 2007.  Highlights include: better opac displays of cover art; removal of SSN from serials routing lists; more logical displays for reference lists and headings; z39.50 gkey searching providing relevance ranked results; pickup locations can be linked to request groups to prevent routing to invalid locations; UB stuff; updated voyager.ini (local workstation); IE7 and Netscape7 support; bug fixes; Ex Libris branding in WebVoyage; interaction with Primo.

Analyzer updates.  ILL updates.

Voyager 7.0:

This will be a major functionality release including: a re-designed opac using some of what's in Primo; Oracle 10g compliance; Windows Vista; MS Access 2007; Firefox 2.0; integration with other Ex Libris products.

Voyager 8.0:

Planning is beginning; more enhancements; better standards support.

Update from Enid on KYVL

There are two RFPs out: databases and courier.

Items were recently submitted for 6-year Capital Plan.  The strategy as always is: truthful, vague, compelling.

School PSA video creation contest winners are posted on KYVL website.

Spalding University has approached KYVL about joining the consortium.

KYVL now has an island in Second Life.

EndUser reflections

There has been some consideration as to whether KVUG and similar meetings can be supported any longer.  It was suggested that users'

group meetings could be conducted via Internet2 or Second Life.

Portal Work Group

Work has continued on hosting and funding issues.  Ex Libris wants existing customer libraries to release their information to Enid.  There will likely be an announcement of the formation of this consortium in the fall.

Our name?

Voting will be done during the week of June 4 by workgroup members via online survey.
