This section provides statistical information on all aspects of agriculture in Kentucky. This includes farms and farm operators, land use, farm income, expenditures and debt, farm output, productivity and marketing, specific crops and livestock, poultry and their products.
The following sites are provided by the National Agricultural Statistics Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. You can browse the Kentucky Agricultural Statistics Service or you can choose one of the specific publications listed below.
- Census of Agriculture
- The Census of Agriculture occurs every five years and provides comprehensive
statistics for the United States and its outlying areas. The 1992 and the
1997 Census are available online.

Click on "Rankings" in Volume 2 to see how Kentucky compares to other
states.

- Historical County Agriculture
Statistics
- This publication provides historical statistics on population, number
and size of farms, production figures, cash receipts, and market value of
products for the state and individual counties. The dates covered vary by
subject.
- Kentucky Agricultural Statistics Bulletin
- This annual publication provides a detailed look at agriculture in Kentucky.
It includes information on number and size of farms, weather, crops and
livestock production, dairy production, farm income, and production costs.
You can find a summary for the state as well as summaries for individual
counties.
- Kentucky State Fact
Sheet
- The Kentucky Fact Sheet provides a quick, general overview of social and
agricultural statistics. It includes three sections: POPULATION, EMPLOYMENT,
AND INCOME; FARM CHARACTERISTICS; and FARM INDICATORS.
- Market
News: Livestock, Grain and Poultry
- This site, from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture provides information
on production and prices for livestock and grain in Kentucky.
