This section presents data on the construction industry and on various indicators of its activity and costs, as well as housing units and their characteristics and occupants.
- American FactFinder
- This website provides basic facts from the 1990 Census of Population and Housing. Use the drop-down menus to select housing subject data; then select a place, county or state. The resulting Basic Fact Sheet will include variables such as total population by age, race and sex, number of housing units, vacant units, renter or owner-occupied housing, value of owner-occupied housing, amount of contract rent, etc.
- HUD User- Policy Development and Research Information Services
- Data for assisted housing programs, (including Section 9, Section 236, and other FHA-subsidized projects) are available for Kentucky counties, places and census tracts. Variables include units available, percent occupied, percent in program less than one year, average household size, average rent, average household income, age and race.
This data can be viewed on-screen but is better suited for downloading into a spreadsheet format. Be sure to view the documentation file so that columns can be properly identified.
- Manufacturing, Mining & Construction Statistics C-40 Building Permits
- Data are presented for new privately-owned housing units authorized in states, counties and places. Monthly and annual reports include data for single and multi-family housing and value of new construction.
- New Manufactured Homes Placement by Size of Home, by State
- This file lists the number of manufactured homes placed in each state by size of home (single or double). The data are released annually only for the U.S. and states. (PDF format)
