  • Effective October 28, 2000

• Protection of integrity of info: False copyright info or removal or alteration of copyright management info, 17 U.S.C. § 1202

• Violation of .§ 1201 or § 1202

  • Civil: Actual damages plus profits of violator or statutory damages
    • If § 1201 - $200 - $2,500
    • If § 1202 - $2,500 - $25,000
  • Nonprofit libraries, archives, educational institutions – court can remit damages
    + up to triple the amount for repeat offenders
