- Appalachian Cultural Museum
- The Appalachian Cultural Museum is part of Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. The Museum seeks to foster an understanding of the people and culture of the Appalachian Mountains. Their site contains pictures of many of their exhibits, as well as information on special events.
- Appalachian Center (Univ. of KY)
- The University of Kentucky's Appalachian Center was formed to link University resources with communities of Appalachia. The Center strives to support these communities and also increase awareness about the area. This site contains links to class materials from Appalachian Studies courses taught at the University of Kentucky and other research links about Appalachia.
- Appalachian Regional Commission
- The Commission is a federal program designed to promote economic and social development in the Appalachian region. Their goals are to improve the infrastructure and help resdents increase skills and resources for such development.
- The Appalachian Trail
- This site contains links to information about the Appalachian Trail, including mileage and high points, hiking clubs, advice from hikers, volunteer opportunities, maps and pictures.
- Appalshop
- Located in Whitesburg, Kentucky, Appalshop is a media arts and cultural center that presents work, particularly films, centered around the culture and concerns of Appalachia.
- Center for Appalachian Studies and Services
- The Center for Appalachian Studies at East Tennessee State University "is a hub of scholarly, educational, public service and artistic projects addressing the needs and interests of the Appalachian region." Their site features links to academic programs, publications, the Archives of Appalachia and more.
- Mountain Association for Community Economic Development
- This association supports programs to improve the quality of life and encourage sustainable development in mountain communities in Kentucky and central Appalachia.
