- The Filson Club has the distinction of being the oldest historical society

- Guide to Genealogical Research
on Kentucky Ancestors in the Civil War
- This listing of books and articles may be useful in doing genealogical
research on men who served in Kentucky military units, both Union and Confederate,
during the Civil War. Only those works which contain listings of individual
men's names are included. It was prepared by Don Rightmyer, Reference Librarian
at Boyle County Public Library, Danville, Kentucky.

- KDLA is the central repository for Kentucky public records. Search their

- Kentucky Genealogical Society
- The Society promotes genealogical research in Kentucky and preservation
of Kentucky records through its programs, publications, and projects.
- Kentucky Highway Maps
- These maps were produced by the Kentucky Department of Highways and are
dated from 1992 through 1999.
- Kentucky Historical Society
- The Kentucky Historical Society's research library collects family histories,
county and state histories, cemetery records, county court records and a
treasure trove of other valuable genealogical research material. Read the

- Kentucky Maps
- These maps come from the University of Texas-Austin Map Collection. Included
are state, city and historical maps plus maps of some national parks, monuments

cemeteries, etc. sponsored by the Kentucky Geological Survey.

divorces 1973-1993 in the state of Kentucky.
- KyGenWeb
- KyGenWeb is a volunteer effort to provide information on the History of
Kentucky, Kentucky counties, genealogical records and projects and other
vital records. KyGenWeb is a great place to start Kentucky-based genealogical
research.
- Local History Index
- This database, from the Lexington Public Library, is a selective index
to newspaper articles dating from 1787 to the present and pertaining to
significant people, places, events, churches, businesses and organizations
in Lexington and Fayette County.
- Office of Vital Statistics
- Order certified copies of birth, death, marriage and divorce certificates
here. This office has maintained birth and death records since 1911 and
marriage and divorce records since 1958.
