- This report describes the results of the 1997 Survey of Public Participation in the Arts (SPPA). This survey data is primarily national but does include data of selected states and metro areas. In addition to attendance at arts activities and participation through broadcast and recorded media, the report covers geographic and demographic differences in participation, arts socialization, music preferences and other leisure activities as well as background information on the history of the SPPA and changes introduced in 1997.
