The lists cover a variety of topics, such as health, law, feminist theory,
popular culture, and much more. While the lists are designed to assist
librarians in selecting books, the lists would be beneficial to teachers,
researchers, and others who are looking for recommended books about women's
studies.
- Feminist Theory
- Available in English, French, and Spanish, this site offers basic information
and lists of research material in feminist theory. Users can browse through
different fields of feminist study (aesthetics, law, Marxism, etc.) and
national and ethnic feminisms. The site also offers a list of individual
feminists and includes brief biographies, summaries of major themes, and
bibliographies.
- National Organization for Women
- The National Organization for Women (NOW) is a non-profit organization
which seeks equal rights for women and legislation which supports women's
issues. Their website offers daily news updates on national and world
issues facing women. It also offers a Young Feminists news section.
- Research News Reporter Online
- "RNR Online (Research News Reporter) is a quick and efficient way
to learn about the latest studies about women and their families. With
RNR Online, you get the month's pertinent studies and articles on women's
research on your desktop, you get the information necessary to access
the very studies that are making the news."

- This site provides a concise listing of Women's Studies programs, departments,
and research centers worldwide, as well as listings of women and gender-related
e-mail lists and websites.

- African-American
Women: Online Archival Collections
- This collection features scanned pages and texts of the writings of
African-American women. It includes the memoirs of Elizabeth Johnson Harris
(1867-1942), an 1857 letter from Vilet Lester, a slave on a North Carolina
plantation, and several letters from Hannah Valentine and Lethe Jackson,
slaves on the estate of David Campbell, a governor of Virginia.
- First Ladies Library
- Maintained by the National First Ladies in Ohio, the site provides a
photo and official biographical information from the White House website.
The site provides fairly comprehensive bibliographies of articles and
books written about each First Lady, as well as bibliographies of articles
and books written by the First Lady herself. Also included for each First
Lady, is a list of manuscript and archives locations and a description
of the contents of each archive.
- National Women's History Project
- This site maintains the clearinghouse for U.S. women's history information.
It also issues a seasonal catalog of women's history posters, books and
materials, produces videos, posters, guides, and supplies for school and
workplace, conducts in-service training for school teachers, coordinates
the Women's History Network, a national participant organization, and
provides consulting services for publishers, media producers, and journalists.
- Women and Social
Movements in the United States, 1830 - 1930
- Created at the State University of New York-Binghamtom, the website
provides access to a collection of primary documents related to women
and social movements in the United States, including 600 documents and
nearly 100 photographs.
- Women in American History
- From Encyclopedia Britannica, this site provides a general overview
of women in American histoy, including biographies, essays, timelines,
images, audio and video clips.

of women around the world. Included are illustrations, images, sound files,
essays, bibliographies, and some full-text materials.
