Finding Books and Articles: Refining a Search

Once you have performed a search, you can refine your results. Refining a search allows you to work with your existing results by adding more terms to the search or limiting to full text, and allows you to narrow your search results to a smaller size or to make the results larger.

Refine Button

To refine your search, click the blue Refine button in the grey sidebar.

The search term or terms that you used will automatically appear on the screen. You can add terms to the search, using the AND, OR, or NOT to combine the terms. You can also search for terms in several different fields, including subject, author, and title. Use the drop down boxes to select from these options. From here you can also choose to limit your results to full text only. Click Go! to see your new search results.
