- Simple tricks can help you find anything you want on the INTERNET (The World Wide Web).
- LOWERCASE or CAPITAL LETTERS? Type your key words in small letters (lowercase). But use a capital letter to begin a proper name or title.
- Always check your spelling as you type.
- TOPIC LINKS
- When you use a Search Engine, you are not actually searching the entire Internet. You are only looking through one company's list.
- Look for the HELP section of a Search Engine page. You'll find useful tips.
BOOLEAN words (AND, OR, NOT) allow you to narrow or expand your search. Type these words in capital letters in between your key words and see what you get:
- AND (example: dogs AND space travel)
- OR (example: dogs OR animals in space)
- NOT (example: dogs, NOT cats in space)
- *ASTERISK - Use an asterisk ( * ) with at least 3 letters when you want to find variations on a word. (example: astron* - will give astronomy, astronaut and other similar words)
