Ex Libris/Metalib consortium
In February 2009, Kentucky Virtual Library implemented MetaLib, a discovery tool that allows the user to access all KYVL’s resources from a single interface. Users can now search across multiple resources simultaneously, view and sort combined results within a single list, and complete the process with links to full-text articles. It provides seamless access to all of the information available through KYVL including commercial databases, state-produced digital collections, library catalogs, proprietary databases, and other resources. It is extremely flexible and customizable for application to a variety of environments.
KYVL intends to offer other institutions and library systems use of MetaLIb as part of a consortium arrangement. KYVL's Portal Workgroup has been charged with advising the KYVL in
the creation and support of the KYVL MetaLib/SFX Consortium to ensure
effective access for users and library staff.
