Presentation given at Strategies for Change: Ethnic Populations in Postsecondary Education conference, 28 and 29 March 2005, a joint conference of the Council on Postsecondary Education and Western Kentucky University. “Pathways to Postsecondary Education: Librarians as Trail Guides.” Librarians representing various library types will provide an overview of resources, services and programming available to support the educational and workforce needs of Kentucky ethnic minority citizens and students. An open discussion of how libraries can serve as partners with postsecondary institutions to support and further the goals of postsecondary reform will follow. Conference attendees are invited to join in this conversation and discuss future activities and partnership opportunities. Presentation given at Strategies for Change: Ethnic Populations in Postsecondary Education. conference, 28 and 29 March 2005, a joint conference of the Council on Postsecondary Education and Western Kentucky University. “Diversifying Research Libraries: Encouraging the Academic Success of Minority Students” The focus will be on creating a diverse library environment for teaching, learning and socializing; recruiting a diverse library workforce and contributing to the academic succcess of minority students.Academic librarians have cooperated in Kentucky during the past few years to recruit a more diverse population into the information profession in order to address diverse service and education needs of minority students. The target audience for the session will be educators as well as information professionals. Presenter: Latisha Reynolds (UofL).

Presentation given at the Kentucky Library Association and Kentucky School Media Association Joint Conference, September 15 – 18, 2004. Presenters: Susan Brown (Transylvania University), Terri Brown (UK), Rose Davis (WKU) and Enid Wohlstein (KYVL). The presentation reviews the history and activities of the Kentucky SOLINET Users’ Group one-year Taskforce on Recruitment. The presentation also outlines opportunities for librarians and support staff for continuing education as well as a listing of ways to get involved in recruitment activities. The presenation also discusses the creation of KLDivERS.
